Después de perpetrar un asesinato, un homicida a sueldo de cierta edad (Joe Mantegna) descubre que está muriendo, pero decide esconder la verdad a su hija, con la que, además, comparte negocio, ya que es la que le ayuda a escapar tras cometer los crímenes. Cuando a un asesino a sueldo más joven se le encarga aclarar la situación y tomar el relevo, éste termina influyendo en sus vidas más de lo que, en un principio, pretendían.
